Corduroy Bag - Madder Pink
Corduroy Bag - Madder Pink
Made from the remnants leftover when making overalls, these belt bags are made from cotton corduroy that I plant dyed with madder root.
Lined with a pale pink cotton that I dyed with madder too, with a secret pocket inside, and a gold ring pull zipper.
The strap comes in two adjustable lengths and is made from red tannin plant dyed cotton, with black buckle and slider.
Shelby is 5"1 and they wear a 45" longer strap. They wear a vintage blazer and silk shirt from Horse and Snake Vintage.
Made during my time as Artist in Residence at Kootenay School of Arts, at Selkirk College.

Naturally dyed with plants
All my socks and scrunchies are naturally dyed - which is a 4 day process. Each natural fibre needs to be scoured on day one, and then treated with a mordant the next day. Then its plant dyeing time, which usualy takes a couple more days!
Each dye bath can be used a number of times, giving lighter and lighter shades until it is exhausted. Then the spent plants end up in my compost. Plant dyeing saves water and says a big no thank you to synthetic nasties that pollute waterways.
