This is Dorothy. I think about her a lot while I’m cutting and sewing my quilt jackets.
Dorothy was born in 1927 and made all the quilts that I’ve been working with during my residency. With some quilts dating back to the 1950s & 70s, it’s a joy to celebrate another woman’s labour and recycle it into something new. Of course she was a badass Prairie girl and, despite being widowed 3 times, had a resourceful mend and make do philosophy.
I’d like to thank Nicole Rhodes for giving me these beautiful quilts to work with.
